I took the abstract painting class with Brittany today and had such a blast learning new techniques and how to successfully blend colors together. She was an incredible teacher and had the patience of saint while running all over the room to help our group of newbies. Nothing but incredible experiences at this business. I’m SO glad I booked the Honeycomb Happiness: Midnight Glass Edition at Wine & Design! 🍯✨ Almost talked myself out of going because I’d be attending solo, but upon arrival quickly learned I definitely wasn’t the only one who had done the same thing. And honestly… nothing quite bonds a group of strangers like awkwardly trying to solder pieces of glass together when the majority of us didn’t know what we were doing! 😂 Being fellow newbies made it even more fun. From the incredibly friendly staff, great drinks, to the hands-on learning experience, the whole evening was such a great time. If you’ve been thinking about taking a class but are hesitating because you’d be going alone—GO. You’ll meet people, learn something completely different, laugh a lot, and leave with something beautiful you created. 10/10 recommend Wine & Design! I have done 2 Wine & Design nights with my husband this summer: the Madison Starry Night and Sunflower Sway. Both were fun. I loved the atmosphere and the concept so much. For the Madison Starry Night it was outside at Hotel Indigo and it was fun to sit outside and actually be on the sidewalk of downtown Madison while we painted the skyline. For the Sunflower Sway it was on Fair Oaks Ave and the building is so cute, artsy, and hip. Music was playing. I loved meeting new people and having this experience. However, one piece of feedback I would like to give to the artists is to not be afraid to truly teach and lead. When I sign up for these, I want to be instructed in how to paint just like the artist and learn techniques. I'm brand new to painting and don't know anything about how to paint, and was hoping for more instruction and investment into me as an artist. I don't just want to pay to go somewhere and be given raw materials and watch someone else paint in their own little bubble. I could essentially buy my own painting materials from Walmart, Hobby Lobby, or some other art supply store, buy my own wine, and watch people paint on Youtube at home and try to copy them, then. I believe Wine & Design should be like a real art class. I still had fun, but wanted to share this feedback. Artists - don't be afraid to actually LEAD and TEACH. Thanks!
