MOREHEAD CITY, Carteret County – More than 70 Wine & Design locations across the country – including the ones in Morehead City, Greenville, Washington, Goldsboro and New Bern – are set to host a special fundraising effort Thursday night to benefit ALS research.
As part of ALS Awareness Month, Wine & Design studios are offering their normal classes Thursday night but donating 100 percent of the profits to Team Chris Combs and Project ALS.
Combs, said Morehead City Wine & Design location owner Mandy Vick, is a friend of the Wine & Design founder, and has fostered a strong connection.
Vick said her location does what she calls "Paint it Forward" events on a regular basis, where a percentage of the proceeds go toward a particular charity or cause. This is the first time all of the locations have come together to host an event on the same night, she said.
"We do find these type of events get a good following," she said.
Those interested can register online beforehand at WineAndDesign.com, selecting any of the local studios.
Vick said the Wine & Design locations will also be accepting donations on top of the normal cost for the painting event, which will be $35 at the Morehead City location. Those attending the Morehead City location will get to paint a Mallory Perkins piece.
